Handwara Conducts extensive field tour; Visits DH Handwara chotipora power Grid station, PHE Division Handwara Deputy Commissioner kupwara Doifode Sagar Dattatray IAS on Friday visited several areas of the Sub district to inspect the snow clearance operation and the status of delivery of essential services. He was accompanied by ADC handwara Nazir Ahmad Medical superintendent DH handwara Dr Dr Nissar Ahmad Tehsildar Handwara Chairman Municipal Council Handwara Masroor Ahmad banday and other senior officers of the sub district. The DDC visited several areas of the Sub district and inspected the snow clearance operations besides reviewing the power supply scenario and restoration process of different feeders and healthcare services available at District Hospital handwara. The Deputy Commissioner visited District Hospital handwara to inspect Healthcare facilities being provided to the patients. At the hospital, he interacted with the patients to get the feedback and also interacted with the doctors. He urged the doctors to ensure better healthcare facilities to the patients and better heating arrangements in wards. He also directed to install ACs in wards and other rooms wherever required to ensure better heating arrangement. DC kupwara also visited Main Market handwara to inspect the snow clearance operation. He interacted with the locals and shopkeepers and directed the Municipal authorities to ensure immediate and prioritized clearance of snow from foot paths, internal lanes and by-lanes. The Deputy Commissioner visited chotipora Grid station to inspect the restoration process of different feeders. Officers informed DC that the field staff is in the field despite continuous snowfall to restore the power supply. while it DC kupwara directed the officers to ensure power supply is restored at earliest in every part of the sub district. He also reviewed the availability of essential commodities. He was informed that there is a sufficient stock of essential commodities available in the district including LPG, ration, Vegetables and other essentials. Officers informed there is a stock of full stock of rice, LPG cylinders, Diesel petrol etc in the district Godowns. DDC directed to conduct regular market checking to check the arbitrary rise in prices and illegal stocking. Enroute the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the people to get a firsthand account of the problems being faced by them. He said that Dozens of snow clearance machines have been deployed in the district to clear roads which include machines of Mechanical Division, machines of R&B department and Municipal Committees of kupwara handwara and langate . He said the machines are continuously clearing the roads as the snowfall continued till wednesday afternoon. He said control rooms have been established at District and Sub-Divisional level for better coordination between line departments and to ensure prompt snow clearance and provision of other essential services. DDC lauded the efforts of the field staff in clearing the roads quickly besides restoring water supply and electricity. He said that the restoration of electricity supply to the district hospital, sub-district hospitals, PHCs and other health institutions was made on priority.
