Department of Horticulture (P&M) organises one day awareness camp at Srigufwara

ANANTNAG, FEBRUARY 17: The Department of Horticulture (P&M) Anantnag today organised an awareness camp under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Mission regarding post harvest management of Horticultural crops at Chinni Wudur Dachnipora, Srigufwara.

The event was presided over by Area Manager P&M Anantnag and was attended by various concerned officials and field functionaries of the department besides a large number of progressive growers and traders.

On the occasion, the experts and resource persons from the department and SKUAST (K) including Dr. Ishtiyaq and Mushtaq Ahmad delivered lectures on topics related to ‘One District One Product’ programme under PMFME Scheme, post harvest management of horticulture crops and other important issues related with the sector.

The growers were informed about the different centrally sponsored schemes including support to individual enterprises, FPOs/ Producers/ SHGs under which the beneficiaries are provided technical knowhow, training, financial assistance, easy financial access, government registration, packaging besides branding and marketing support.

All the provisions of the schemes were elaborated threadbare during the session.

The growers were given detailed information regarding pre and post harvesting management with a special emphasis on adoption of latest technologies and the use of organic manure to enhance the quality and quantity of the produce.
