KISHTWAR, MARCH 17: As part of the two Day demonstrations on Disaster rescue, a Mock drill on earthquake was today conducted by a Team of 13 Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) here at DC Office Complex.
Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar Ashok Sharma. who is also the Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was also present.
The exercise was conducted for assessing the preparedness and response mechanism of the District Administration in case of disaster situation.
The UTDRF, Fire Services department , health department, police, traffic police, Red Cross, NGOs, NCC, Civil Defence and other stakeholders were also involved in the Exercise.
The exercise was aimed to take the stock of efficiency and capability of all the stakeholders responsible for disaster response and also to inculcate better coordination among different response agencies.
It is pertinent to mention here that NDRF 13th Battalion has been raised by the MHA exclusively for J&K and UT of Ladakh.
Commandant of the Battalion informed that the NDRF has planned a series of Mock Exercises in J&K to build up better synergy and enhance the capability of the stakeholders for effective disaster management and rescue to save maximum lives and damages in case of any adversity.
Among others who remained present on the occasion were BDC chairman Kishtwar Suresh Sharma, ADC Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma, ACR Kishtwar Akhter Hussain Qazi,Commandant 13 Battalion NDRF Javeed Iqbal, Tehsildar HQ Chander Shekhar, Account officer, DC office, Kishtwar Imran Ahmed Kichloo, in -charge Fire & Emergency services Farooq Ahmed, Secretary, Red Cross Kishtwar Asgar Sheikh besides locals, NCC cadets and other officers and stakeholders.
