February 22: Acting tough against the menace of drugs and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance & cash from his possession.
Officers from PS Budgam at a checkpoint established near Ichgam Temple intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mohammad Shafi Mouchi son of Nazir Ahmed Mouchi resident of Ichgam. During his personal search, 300 grams of Charas & cash amount of ₹11,300 believed to be proceedings of drug peddling have been recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 43/2022 under relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
