Overall improvement in weather from Jan 10th onward: Official
Srinagar, Feb 06: The Meteorological Department Sunday predicted that erratic weather will continue till February 9th and overall improvement in prevailing weather conditions from February 10th onward, officials said.
In-charge Director MeT, Farooq Ahmad Bhat told Rising Kashmir that they were expecting light snowfall in the upper reaches of Valley and rains in plains on Monday and added that erratic weather will continue till February 10th .
Bhat said owing to cloudy minimum temperatures will be increased in upcoming days. While due to the prevailing weather situation, the night temperatures have improved in Kashmir.
Srinagar recorded 2.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday night, Pahalgam settled at a low of minus 3.7degrees Celsius Gulmarg at minus 7.5 Degrees Celsius and was the coldest place in Valley, Qazigund recorded 0.7 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara, settled at 1.1 degrees Celsius.
While the ‘Chillai Kalan’, the 40-day long harshest period of winter ended on January 30, Kashmir is now going through the 20-day long ‘Chillai Khurd’ which would be followed by 10-day-long ‘Chilla Bachha’.
As per the advisory issued by traffic police headquarters for Monday, LMVs shall be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.
