A candle march was organised today to commemorate the National Solidarity Day in Gurez by the Awam, Administration, Police and the Indian Army with an aim to pay respect to the 11 civilian victims of Kashmir, martyrs of the mother land and the Indian Armed forces personnels who bestow their selfless service for their motherland.
The peaceful march was flagged off by SDM and SDPO Gurez from the Jama Masjid Dawar and culminated at the Dawar War memorial where the candles were placed at the war memorial and homage was paid to the martyrs. The participants were also educated about the importance of this day and about the civilian killings being carried out by ANEs in different parts of Kashmir. The event was attended by the locals of Gurez, Personnels of the JKP, Indian Airforce and Indian Army apart from various tourists from different parts of the country.
The event showcased the patriotism, nationalistic fervor and the unflinching support of the people of Gurez towards their Armed forces and was highly appreciated by all. Such initiatives being undertaken by the Army in Gurez has strengthened the bond between the Awam and Jawan and the pro nation ethos of the Gurezis.
