Workshop on ‘recent trends in Chemical Engineering, process industries’ concludes at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, 22 Aug: The five-day-long workshop on ‘Recent trends in chemical engineering and process industries concluded on Sunday at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

The workshop was organized by Chemical Engineering Department under the aegis of the student chapter of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) NIT Srinagar Centre.

 Dr. Tanveer Rasool and Dr. Malik Parvez were the coordinators of the five-day-long workshop.

The workshop was presided over by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr) Rakesh Sehgal. In his key address, Prof. Sehgal said such workshops are highly motivating and informative for the all-around development of graduate engineers.

“The graduate Chemical Engineers can also play a leading role in redressal through various government establishments locally like public health and sanitation, water treatment and supply, environment, local industries, etc,” he said.

Prof. Sehgal also congratulated the CE Department for the successful initiative.

While appreciating organizers, Registrar NIT Prof. Kaiser Bukhari said the primary aim of this workshop was that participants would be updated with the latest trends in Chemical engineering and industries. NIT Srinagar will be hosting such workshops in the future also, he said.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, head of the Department of Chemical Engineering praised the efforts of coordinators of the workshop Dr. Tanveer Rasool, Dr. Malik Parvez, and student coordinators for conducting the successful workshop.

He also expressed his gratitude towards the resource persons belonging to  IITs, NITs, and industry. During the workshop, the latest happenings in the field of Chemical Engineering were discussed threadbare. It emerged that UT of J&K is having a lot of respect for establishing a process-related industry.

 “Educated youth of the region should come forward to take advantage of various Govt. financing schemes. It will help to address of issue of unemployment among the educated youth,” he said.

In the event, more than two hundred participants had registered for the program and participated actively. The proceedings of the workshop were conducted by the students, including Faheem Hameed, Nadeem Akhter, Sartaj Sagroo, and Abdul Hanan.

While a formal vote of thanks was presented by student coordinator, Bushra Makhdoomi, She thanked experts and participants, for making the workshop a grand success.
