Srinagar, 20 Jul 2021. A major terror attack was averted by security forces when an
Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detected by Explosive Detection Dog at
Tangpura Bandh on the outskirts of Srinagar in Central Kashmir yesterday evening.
Based on the specific inputs, search operation was launched by
Ganderbal based Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, JKP and CRPF in general area
Tangpura on 19 July 2021 at around 1800hr. Search operation lead to recovery of an
IED weighing Appx 30 Kgs near Tangpura Bandh which is just 700 mtrs away from
National Highway. The IED was safely destroyed in-situ by Army Bomb Squad today
morning. The timely recovery thwarted the nefarious design of terrorists and their
supporters to destabilize the security situation in the valley.
