Tezpur, October 11:The Senior Managing Editor of Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) has successfully completed the Defence Correspondents Course (DCC) 2026, conducted from September 22 to October 11, involving 24 journalists from across the country.
The three-week course covered the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Indian Army through three phases conducted at Visakhapatnam, Tezpur in Assam, and the Tenga and Tawang areas of Arunachal Pradesh, respectively.
The first leg was held at Visakhapatnam, focusing on the Indian Navy, followed by the Air Force phase at Tezpur. The final phase covered the Indian Army and its operational environment in the Tenga and Tawang areas.
The programme included briefings, field visits and interactions with military personnel to familiarise participants with the roles, capabilities and operational environments of the three Services, along with the responsibilities associated with defence reporting.
The course concluded with a valedictory ceremony at IX Corps, also known as Gajraj Corps, chaired by Lieutenant General Neeraj Shukla, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Gajraj Corps.
Shri Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General (Media & Communication), Ministry of Defence, along with officials of the Directorate of Public Relations, also attended the ceremony.
The programme aimed to strengthen mutual understanding between the Defence Forces and the media, while highlighting the importance of accurate reporting, public awareness and due regard for operational sensitivities and national security considerations.
The completion of the course by the KNB Senior Managing Editor marks a professional milestone, providing specialised exposure to India’s defence establishment and the functioning of the three Services.
