Beerwah, October 1: An important meeting was held at Town Hall Beerwah under the leadership of MLA Beerwah Dr Mohammad Shafi Wani to review public issues, ongoing development projects and matters concerning the welfare of people in the constituency.
The meeting was attended by Executive Officer Municipal Committee Beerwah Jahangir Ahmad Shah, Sub-Registrar Beerwah Hilal Ahmad KAS, President Bar Association Beerwah Advocate Bilal Ahmed Rather, Advocate Naseer Ahmad Khan, AEE R&B Beerwah Shabir Ahmad, representatives of the R&B Department, members of the Traders Federation Beerwah, civil society representatives and other local stakeholders.
During the meeting, various issues related to development, infrastructure, public services and ongoing works were discussed. The progress of projects being executed by different departments, including E&WD, Health and R&B, was also reviewed.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr Mohammad Shafi Wani said that due to the busy schedule of Assembly sessions, he had not been able to sit with the people of the area for nearly ten months. He said the meeting was aimed at listening directly to the concerns and difficulties faced by residents and taking up their issues with the concerned departments for appropriate resolution.
The MLA also raised the issue of the sanctioned Sub-Registrar post at Beerwah, stating that an officer had not yet been posted. He said the matter was being taken up with the government and concerned authorities to ensure the posting of a competent officer and completion of the required arrangements.
The President of Bar Association Beerwah placed several demands before the MLA regarding the strengthening of legal infrastructure and improvement of facilities for advocates and litigants.
The Bar Association demanded construction of a dedicated Sub-Registrar Office near the newly approved land for the Court Complex at Beerwah. It also sought ₹1 lakh from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for furniture for the existing Sub-Registrar Office and ₹1.50 lakh for renovation and improvement of the Bar Room.
The MLA assured the Bar Association that the demands would be considered and that the sanctioned amounts would be released within one month, subject to completion of the requisite official formalities.
Dr Mohammad Shafi Wani stressed the importance of close coordination among the administration, public representatives, traders, civil society, advocates and local residents for effective redressal of public grievances and timely completion of development works.
The concerned officers were directed to take effective measures for resolving public issues and maintain close monitoring of the pace and quality of ongoing projects.
A brief account of developmental works undertaken during the past year was also presented before the gathering. Participants appreciated the initiative and called for continued coordination among all stakeholders for the overall development and welfare of the people of Beerwah.
