Srinagar, Sept 30 (JKNS): For patients who had been living with deteriorating eyesight for years, the Army’s Mega Cataract Surgery Camp, Op Drishti, has brought renewed hope, treatment and a fresh sense of confidence.
One of the beneficiaries, Mohammad Akbar Chechi, said he had struggled with an eye condition for nearly three decades before receiving treatment at Badami Bagh Cantonment (BB Cantt), as per news agency JKNS.
“I had been suffering from an eye problem for nearly 30 years. The Indian Army helped me receive treatment. After living with this condition for so many years, I now feel hopeful that my life can improve,” Chechi told news agency JKNS on the sidelines of Phase II of the camp, which concluded at Chinar Auditorium in Srinagar.
Chechi was among several beneficiaries who shared their experiences at the camp, where patients with vision-related ailments received specialised treatment and medical care.
Ghulam Mahudin Sofi from Anantnag said the support provided at the camp went beyond medical treatment.
“There is a lot of comfort here. The Army has treated us very well. The doctors speak to patients, listen to them and make them feel at ease before treatment begins. That itself builds confidence,” he said.
An elderly beneficiary from Machama area of Tral said he had already noticed an improvement in his vision following the procedure.
Wearing protective glasses after treatment, he said he could feel his eyesight improving.
“I feel the light has returned to my eyes. I am deeply grateful to the Indian Army and the doctors who treated me,” he said.
Many beneficiaries travelled from remote areas to attend the camp, where Army medical teams provided specialised eye care and guided patients through the treatment process. (JKNS)
