Keran, September 17, 2026 (JKNS): The 11th day of Keran Mela 2026 witnessed an inspiring celebration of women’s participation in sports, with more than 70 young girls and women actively taking part in various sporting and athletic events at Keran Ground.
The Keran Mela is being organised through the collaborative efforts of the Indian Army, District Administration Kupwara, Education Department and local stakeholders, with a focus on youth engagement, sports, community participation and social development in the border region.
The sporting activities on the 11th day created an energetic and vibrant atmosphere at the Keran Ground. Young girls and women enthusiastically participated in Kho Kho, short-distance races and other athletic activities, displaying remarkable enthusiasm, confidence and sporting spirit.
Their participation reflected the growing interest of young women in sports and provided them with an important platform to demonstrate their talent, determination, fitness and competitive spirit. The events also encouraged values such as discipline, teamwork, leadership and mutual cooperation among the participants.
The enthusiastic presence and active participation of women added a special dimension to the ongoing mela and emerged as one of the major highlights of the 11th day.
