Srinagar, Sep 17 (JKNS): Shopian Police has arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 2.472 kilograms of crushed cannabis-like substance during routine naka checking in the Audoora Rampathri area, officials said.

As per news agency JKNS, Police has arrested drug peddler and recovered crushed Cannabis like substance from his possession.

During routine naka checking at Audoora Rampathri, a police party from Police Post Keegam noticed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him along with nylon bag. During search, 2.472 Kgs crushed Cannabis-like substance were recovered. The accused has been identified as Ab Ahad Mochi son of Gh Mohd Mochi resident of Audoora Rampthri. Accordingly, FIR No. 198/2026 under the relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and establish the forward and backward linkages.

Shopian Police remains firmly committed to its mission of creating a drug-free society and appeals to the general public to extend their cooperation by sharing any information related to drug peddling or substance abuse in their localities. Citizens can report such activities to the nearest police station. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. (JKNS)
