179-BN CRPF Sopore Concludes Shaheed Nisar Ahmad Lone Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament Under CAP-2026

Sopore, August 29: The Shaheed Nisar Ahmad Lone Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament, organised by 179-BN CRPF Sopore under CAP-2026, concluded today with a grand finale ceremony at Mazbugh Ground.

The tournament witnessed the participation of 12 inter-school teams from Sopore and adjoining areas and was organised under the supervision of Commandant, 179-BN CRPF, Shri Vinay Kumar Choudhary.

The grand finale was played between SRM Welkin School Sopore and Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore. In an exciting final encounter, Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore emerged victorious with a 2-0 win, lifting the prestigious Shaheed Nisar Ahmad Lone Memorial Football Tournament Trophy.

Shoaib Ahmad of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore was declared the Man of the Match, while Talib Ahmad of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore was awarded the Man of the Tournament for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

The closing ceremony was graced by Commandant 179-BN CRPF, Shri Vinay Kumar Choudhary, as the Chief Guest.

Second-in-Command, 179-BN CRPF, Shri Vipin Yadav, attended as the Guest of Honour.

Among the distinguished guests present were Chairman, SRM Welkin School Sopore, Haji Inayatullah Hajini, and Principal, Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore, G.N. Sumje.

The programme was also attended by Programme Nodal Officer and Deputy Commandant, 179-BN CRPF, Shri Ajay Kumar, Programme Coordinator, Mr Khan Jahangeer, and Programme and Management Officer, Assistant Commandant, 179-BN CRPF, Shri Amit Kumar.

The winning team, Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore, was awarded a cash prize of ₹15,000 along with gold medals and certificates. The runners-up, SRM Welkin School Sopore, received a cash prize of ₹11,000 along with silver medals and certificates.

Speaking on the occasion, Commandant Shri Vinay Kumar Choudhary expressed happiness over the successful organisation of the tournament and appreciated the enthusiasm and sporting talent displayed by the participating students.

He said that the tournament had provided an important platform for young and talented students from Sopore and adjoining areas to showcase their sporting abilities.

Addressing the students, Shri Choudhary urged them to stay away from drugs and adopt sports as an integral part of their lives.

“Stay away from drugs and stay connected with sports. The world of sports offers a completely different and positive direction in life. Along with sports, education is equally important. Work hard to bring laurels to Jammu and Kashmir, Sopore and your respective schools,” he said.

He further assured that 179-BN CRPF Sopore would continue to organise more such programmes and sporting activities in the future for the betterment and development of the youth, students and the people of Sopore.

The tournament concluded with the distribution of trophies, medals, certificates and cash prizes amid appreciation and applause from students, teachers, guests and officials.

The successful conduct of the Shaheed Nisar Ahmad Lone Memorial Football Tournament under CAP-2026 reflected the commitment of 179-BN CRPF Sopore towards promoting sports, youth engagement, education and a drug-free society.
