They said such initiatives have helped young athletes move from limited local opportunities to bigger competitive platforms, giving them the confidence and exposure required to pursue sports as a career.

The delegation also highlighted the wider role of sports in engaging the youth of Jammu & Kashmir in constructive activities, describing the transition from “drugs to stadiums” as an important step towards building a healthier and more empowered generation.

The members said that with increasing sporting activities and the emergence of new tournaments, more youngsters are expected to participate and benefit from competitive opportunities across different disciplines.

The delegation further appreciated the Sports Council for strengthening sporting infrastructure and creating opportunities for young players, saying that sustained support from the administration can help J&K produce more athletes capable of representing the region at national and international levels.

During the interaction, the delegation also discussed upcoming cricket tournaments and other sporting events, which are expected to provide local players with additional opportunities to compete, develop their skills and gain valuable exposure.

The cricket fraternity assured the Secretary of its continued cooperation in promoting sports and encouraging young talent, while the interaction also focused on further strengthening the connection between local sporting communities and the Sports Council. (JKNS)
