New Delhi, Aug 18 (JKNS): National Security Guard (NSG) explosive-detection K9 ‘Donny’ has been awarded the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card on the occasion of Independence Day 2026 in recognition of his exceptional technical aptitude, reliability and operational performance.
According to the NSG, as per news agency JKNS, Donny, a member of the force’s K9 Unit, played a key role during response and search operations following the blast near the Red Fort in New Delhi in November 2025.
On November 10 and 11, Donny was deployed to sanitise the site of the Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) blast as part of the NSG’s RSP operations.
During the operation, the specially trained explosive-detection dog conclusively confirmed the presence of explosives at the blast site, assisting security personnel in securing and examining the area.
The commendation recognises Donny’s operational contribution, reliability and specialised capabilities in explosive detection during a critical security operation.
The NSG K9 units form an important component of the force’s counter-terrorism and explosive-detection capabilities, with specially trained dogs deployed during sensitive security, search and sanitisation operations. (JKNS)
