SRINAGAR, August 05:- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State General Secretary (Organisation) for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Ashok Koul, on Wednesday asserted that the historic revocation of Article 370 stands as an enduring testament to the party’s unwavering commitment to equitable development and regional progress.

Addressing a massive gathering at the party headquarters in Srinagar amid widespread celebrations marking the anniversary of the 2019 constitutional change, Koul highlighted the sweeping socio-economic transformation witnessed across the Union Territory over the past several years. Celebrations commemorating the milestone were organised by party cadres across various districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shifting focus to the regional political landscape, Koul launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC)-led administration, specifically targeting Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He accused the ruling leadership of administrative inertia and failure to deliver on pre-poll commitments.

“Omar Abdullah is asking for statehood, but he is not addressing the problems that are already in his domain. By demanding statehood, he wants control over the police so that he can again fire at youngsters at his will,” Koul charged.

The senior BJP leader contended that while the administration remains fixated on political optics regarding statehood, it has completely bypassed urgent public grievances and governance frameworks currently within its legislative and administrative purview.
Contrasting the current security atmosphere with past decades, Koul praised the central leadership and security apparatus for ushering in a durable peace. He underscored that under the prevailing security paradigm, the region has transitioned into an era of stability where “not a single bullet was fired at innocent people.”
