DLSA Ganderbal concludes Three-Day Basic Training Programme for Community Mediators

Ganderbal, Aug 5 (JKNS): The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal today successfully concluded the three-day Basic Training Programme for newly proposed Community Mediators under the NALSA SOP on Community Mediation: Towards Litigation-Free Rural India at the Conference Hall, District Court Complex, Ganderbal.

The programme was held under the direction and guidance of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Ganderbal, and under the supervision of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA, Ganderbal.

The concluding day of the training programme focused on strengthening the professional competence of Community Mediators through interactive technical sessions and practical learning.

Adv. Syed Saif Ud Din, Trained Mediator, delivered an insightful session on the vision, objectives and basic principles of Community Mediation, emphasizing the importance of mediation as an effective and accessible mechanism for amicable resolution of disputes at the grassroots level, especially in rural areas.

A practical session on Case Studies and Demonstration of Community Mediation was conducted by Adv. Kaunsar Syed Masoodi, Trained Mediator, enabling the participants to gain hands-on experience in mediation techniques, communication skills and settlement procedures through simulated mediation exercises.

The programme culminated in an Open House Discussion, wherein the participants actively interacted with the Secretary, who addressed their queries, shared practical insights and encouraged them to uphold the values of neutrality, confidentiality and fairness while performing their role as Community Mediators.

The participants also expressed their appreciation and shared valuable feedback regarding the three-day training programme.

The three-day training programme was conducted in accordance with the NALSA Community Mediation Training Manual and the communication issued by the J&K Legal Services Authority, with the objective of developing a trained cadre of Community Mediators capable of resolving disputes amicably and fostering a litigation-free rural society.
