Pune, Aug 1 (JKNS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday presented the Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2026 to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, describing him as one of the key architects of India’s national security and foreign policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Speaking at the award ceremony in Pune, as per news agency JKNS, Shah paid rich tributes to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his 106th death anniversary, recalling his immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle and nation-building.
“Today marks the 106th death anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. With deep respect, I pay my heartfelt tribute to Tilak Maharaj. I remember his life, his principles, and his immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle and to paving the way for the nation’s future,” Shah said.
The Home Minister said Tilak gave birth to a new form of nationalism rooted in cultural nationalism, adding that the country is today moving on the same path. He also described Tilak as a visionary teacher, fearless journalist and great thinker whose writings remain timeless.
Referring to the award, Shah said he was pleased that the Tilak Smarak Trust had selected Ajit Doval for the prestigious honour, adding that the NSA has made an outstanding contribution to strengthening India’s national security architecture and foreign policy.
He said every major decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on national security has had Ajit Doval’s guidance and advice in the background, while also noting that Doval was the first key appointment made by Prime Minister Modi after assuming office in 2014.
The Home Minister further said that Doval’s contribution has significantly enhanced India’s strategic capabilities and global standing. (JKNS
