Srinagar, July 31 (JKNS): A Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel was injured after his service weapon accidentally discharged during a routine patrolling operation in the Magam area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, officials said.
An official told news agency JKNS that the injured personnel has been identified as Mohammad Altaf Khan, son of Habibi Ull Khan.
The official said the service weapon accidentally went off during patrolling, and the bullet struck the officer’s foot.
He was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kokernag for first aid and was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for specialised treatment.
Officials said the injured officer is receiving medical care, while further details are awaited. (JKNS)
