Ramban, July 22 (JKNS): Two persons were killed and five others injured after a shooting stone hit a passenger tempo on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Ramsoo in Ramban district on Wednesday.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the shooting stone struck the passenger vehicle amid continuous rainfall, causing extensive damage to the tempo.
They said rescue teams, assisted by police and local volunteers, immediately launched an evacuation operation and shifted the injured to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ramsoo and other nearby hospitals for treatment.
Two of the injured later succumbed to their injuries, while five others are undergoing treatment. Their condition is being monitored, officials said.
The identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained when this report was filed.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation. (JKNS)
