The programme focused on key aspects of natural farming, including the preparation and application of bio-inputs such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, and Ghan Jeevamrit. Participants were also trained in eco-friendly farming methods designed to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers while improving soil health and farm productivity.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone, Programme Coordinator and Head, KVK Budgam, highlighted the crucial role of Krishi Sakhis in bringing social and economic transformation to rural communities. He encouraged the participants to make effective use of the training and contribute towards the successful implementation of the National Mission on Natural Farming by promoting integrated and sustainable farming systems.

Dr. Shazia Ramzan, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science), emphasized the importance of natural farming in ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability while protecting the environment. She underscored the need to adopt eco-friendly farming practices to improve soil fertility and enhance farmers’ livelihoods.

During the programme, successful entrepreneurs Abdul Ahad and Mohd. Iqbal shared their experiences and discussed the technical aspects of natural farming. They inspired the participants by demonstrating how small-scale farmers can successfully transition from chemical-based agriculture to sustainable, profitable, and environmentally friendly farming systems.

The training concluded with a valedictory session during which certificates were distributed to all participants by Rainaha Habib Kanth, Worthy Director Extension, SKUAST-K.

The programme is expected to empower Krishi Sakhis with the knowledge and practical skills needed to promote natural farming practices across their respective villages and communities. (JKNS)
