A major highlight of the closing ceremony was an informative Basic Life Support (BLS) session conducted by Dr Burhan Bazaz, President of the Jammu & Kashmir Rowing & Sculling Association. Dr Bazaz demonstrated Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), first aid and emergency response protocols, including the correct techniques for assisting an unresponsive person and attempting to save lives. The practical session was highly educational and beneficial for all participants, coaches and officials, reinforcing the importance of emergency preparedness in water sports.

Besides, Dr Bazaz hailed the contribution of sports icon Ms Bilquis Mir and termed her the “Lady behind the success of water sports.” Ms Bilquis Mir, while imparting professional skills to the young athletes, spoke about her keen desire to produce an Olympian in water sports from the region.

The Association also warmly welcomed Vice President Dr Imran, who attended the closing ceremony and encouraged the athletes with his motivational words while appreciating their dedication throughout the camp.

Certificates of participation were distributed among all the athletes in recognition of their successful completion of the basic training programme.

Dr Rafiq Din appreciated the efforts of the organisers, coaches, volunteers and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the Summer Coaching Camp.

Parents present at the closing ceremony expressed their appreciation for the initiative and shared positive feedback, highlighting the confidence, discipline and water safety skills their children had gained during the programme.

Throughout the camp, participants received structured training in basic swimming, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, water safety, physical fitness and teamwork under the guidance of experienced coaches.

The Summer Coaching Camp concluded on a successful note, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to promoting water sports, developing young talent and creating awareness about water safety across Jammu & Kashmir. (JKNS)
