Baramulla Makes DIO-Issued Press Cards Mandatory for Media Access at Official, VVIP Events

Baramulla, July 16 (JKNS): The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla has ordered that only media persons possessing valid identity cards issued by the District Information Officer (DIO), Baramulla will be allowed entry into official functions, VVIP/VIP visits, religious gatherings, public events and other occasions requiring police deployment.

According to an order issued by SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, IPS, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the directive has been issued in view of security arrangements and access control measures during official events.

The order states that all police officers and personnel deployed on duty shall ensure strict verification of media credentials at all access control and checking points. It further directs that no individual claiming to represent print, electronic, digital or social media platforms shall be permitted access unless he or she produces a valid identity card issued by the DIO Baramulla.

The SSP has also directed supervisory officers to ensure strict compliance with the instructions by all personnel deployed under their command, warning that any violation or unauthorized access will be viewed seriously.

The order has come into effect immediately and shall remain operative until further orders. (JKNS)
