Srinagar, July 8 (JKNS): One Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was killed during an ongoing anti-terror operation in the Chanapora area of Shopian district, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said on Wednesday.
In a post on X, the Chinar Corps, as per news agency JKNS, said the joint operation, codenamed Operation Chanapora, was launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs received from Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF in the general area of Chanapora, Shopian.
During the search operation, security forces came under terrorist fire, leading to an exchange of fire, the Army said.
According to the Chinar Corps, one LeT terrorist, identified as Zakir Ganai, was eliminated in the ensuing firefight.
The Army further said that arms, ammunition and other war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site.
The operation was continuing at the time of filing this report, the Chinar Corps added. (JKNS)
