Kupwara, July 6 (JKNS): In a moving display of patriotism and unwavering respect for the nation’s brave soldiers, the residents of Kundian village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran paid an emotional tribute to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack despite heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures.
The harsh weather failed to dampen the spirit of remembrance as people from all walks of life gathered to honour the supreme sacrifice made by India’s fallen heroes.
The programme, observed as a Solidarity Day, witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, civil society members, and representatives of MS Khatana Enterprises. The event was marked by a series of patriotic activities aimed at instilling the values of sacrifice, unity, and national pride among the younger generation.
One of the most touching moments of the programme was when young children, carrying flowers and the spirit of patriotism in their hearts, went from door to door paying tribute to the Pulwama martyrs. Holding the national flag and raising emotional slogans in honour of the brave soldiers, the children pledged that the sacrifices of the martyrs would never be forgotten.
With innocent voices echoing through the snow-covered village, they declared that the nation would remember its heroes “as long as the sun and the moon continue to shine.” Their heartfelt tribute moved many residents, some of whom were seen with tears in their eyes while offering prayers for the departed souls.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted the courage and selfless service of the security personnel who lay down their lives to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens. They stressed that the sacrifices of the Pulwama martyrs continue to inspire millions of Indians and serve as a reminder of the price paid for peace and security.
Participants said that organising such programmes in remote border villages sends a powerful message of national unity and reinforces the bond between the people living in frontier areas and the country’s armed forces. They also appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the children, describing them as the torchbearers of patriotism and national values.
Despite relentless snowfall and sub-zero temperatures, the people of Kundian stood shoulder to shoulder throughout the programme, demonstrating that true gratitude and respect for the nation’s heroes cannot be diminished by adverse weather conditions.
The event concluded with floral tributes, prayers for the martyrs, and a collective pledge to uphold the ideals of patriotism, unity, and national integrity, ensuring that the legacy of the Pulwama martyrs continues to inspire future generations. (JKNS)
