NATF National Chairman Warns of Protest Outside Education Minister’s Residence if Strict Action Not Taken in J&K Textbook Row

Jammu, July 6 (JKNS): The National Anti-Terrorism Front (NATF) India National Chairman, Shri Vishal Chopra, today addressed a press conference in Jammu regarding the controversy over the use of terrorist names in the latest published Jammu & Kashmir government school textbooks.

Addressing the media, Shri Vishal Chopra welcomed the decisive action taken by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha in ordering a high-level inquiry into the matter. He appreciated the administration for suspending eight officials in connection with the controversy, stating that the action reflects the government’s commitment to protecting the education system and ensuring accountability.

However, Shri Chopra said that the action should not be limited to the suspension of eight officials alone. He demanded a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation to identify every individual involved in the approval, publication, and circulation of the objectionable content in the textbooks.

He asserted that all those found responsible, irrespective of their position or designation, must be brought before the public and dealt with strictly under the law. He said the people of Jammu & Kashmir have the right to know who was responsible for allowing such content to become part of educational material meant for students.

Shri Vishal Chopra further stated that educational institutions must remain centres of learning, patriotism, and national values, and no material that glorifies or legitimizes terrorism should have any place in school textbooks. He emphasized that exemplary action against every guilty person is essential to ensure that such incidents are never be repeated.

During the press conference, Shri Vishal Chopra warned that if the investigation is not conducted fairly and strict action is not taken against all those responsible, the National Anti-Terrorism Front (NATF) will launch a democratic protest outside the residence of Jammu & Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo. He said NATF will continue its campaign until complete accountability is ensured and justice is delivered.

Reaffirming NATF’s commitment to safeguarding national unity and protecting the interests of students, Shri Vishal Chopra said the organization will continue to raise its voice against any attempt to compromise the sanctity of the education system. He urged the administration to complete the inquiry at the earliest and take strict legal action against all those found responsible.

The press conference was also attended by National Advisor Abhishek Kapoor, State General Secretary Varinder Mahajan, State Chief Spokesperson Harish Raina, State Secretaries Rohit Gupta and Baldeep Kour, State Social Media Head Gurmeet Dutta, Kamla Sharma, Harmeet Singh, and other members of the National Anti-Terrorism Front (NATF).
