Srinagar, July 6 (JKNS): Heavy rainfall triggered a major landslide near the 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric Power Project in Kishtwar district on Monday morning, burying several vehicles under massive debris and causing extensive damage, officials said.
Officials told news agency JKNS that multiple vehicles were trapped beneath the landslide, with many suffering severe damage. Rescue teams and heavy machinery have been pressed into service to remove the debris, recover the affected vehicles and restore normal access to the area.
Meanwhile, flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall also wreaked havoc in parts of Doda district, disrupting normal life and causing damage at several locations. However, there were no immediate reports of any loss of life.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, while restoration and rescue operations are underway in the affected areas. (JKNS)
