J&K to Host Historic National Soft Tennis Camp Ahead of Asian Games 2026

Srinagar, July 1 (JKNS): The J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association, under the aegis of the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India (ASTFI) and in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, is proud to host the first-ever National Coaching Camp for the Indian Soft Tennis Teams in preparation for the 20th Asian Games, Japan 2026.

Venue: Gindun Sports Stadium, Rajbagh, Srinagar
Duration: 10th July – 13th August, 2026

This landmark coaching camp marks a new chapter in the sporting history of Jammu & Kashmir and reflects the growing stature of Soft Tennis in the region.

Soft Tennis is a recognized sport by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, the School Games Federation of India, and the Association of Indian Universities. The sport is affiliated with the Asian Soft Tennis Federation and the International Soft Tennis Federation and is proudly included in the National Games of India as well as the Asian Games.

Over the years, the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association has built an impressive legacy by winning 5 Gold, 13 Silver, and 10 Bronze medals at various National and International Championships.

The Association has also established a strong grassroots network with 18 affiliated district units across Jammu & Kashmir and has successfully hosted five National Championships in different categories.

Plans are already underway to host more prestigious National and International Soft Tennis events during the current year.

Jammu & Kashmir has produced several outstanding Soft Tennis players who have brought laurels to the nation, including:

1. Madavendra Singh Sambayal

2. Shreemai Bhat

3. Sidhani Singh

4. Soham Bhatt

5. Antistika

6. Mujtaba Hassan

7. Mohammad Qais

 

…and many more talented athletes.

This National Coaching Camp is a matter of immense pride for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. It is wonderful news for all sports lovers, especially for the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association and the J&K Sports Council. Hosting the Indian National Coaching Camp ahead of the Asian Games will be a true game-changer, providing local players with an invaluable opportunity to train alongside the country’s best athletes, learn from top coaches, and elevate their performance to the highest level.

Together, let us celebrate this historic achievement and continue to support the growth of Soft Tennis in Jammu & Kashmir and across India. (JKNS)
