CIK Raids Multiple Locations Across Kashmir in UAPA Case

Documents, Digital Devices Seized During Searches Linked to 2023 UAPA Investigation

Srinagar, June 27 (JKNS): The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Saturday conducted searches at multiple locations across the Kashmir Valley in connection with an ongoing investigation into a case registered under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), officials said.

Official sources told news agency JKNS that the searches were carried out in connection with FIR No. 07/2023, registered under Sections 153-A, 505 and 506 of the IPC, along with Sections 13, 18, 18-B and 39 of the UAPA. The raids were conducted pursuant to search warrants issued by the competent court.

Sources said the searches were conducted in accordance with due legal procedure as part of the ongoing investigation to collect evidence and establish facts relevant to the case.

According to officials, a CIK team searched the residence of Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, son of Noor Mohammad Beigh, a resident of Hokarsar and originally from Dalal Mohalla, Maharaj Gunj in Srinagar.

Another team, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, conducted a search at the residence of Syed Qalandar Shah, son of Barkat Shah, a resident of Chountwaliwar, Lar in Ganderbal district.

CIK also carried out a search at the residence of Gulzar Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Gani Rather, an Imam of Phali Masjid and a resident of Nowgam, Verinag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Official sources said documents and digital devices believed to have potential evidentiary value were seized during the searches. The seized material will be subjected to forensic and technical examination in accordance with the law.

Sources added that the searches were still underway when the last reports came in. (JKNS)
