Ganderbal, Jun 22 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday paid obeisance at the revered Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulmulla area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on the occasion of Jyeshtha Ashtami and prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the Lieutenant Governor visited the shrine early in the day, offered prayers and sought blessings of Mata Kheer Bhawani.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the annual mela, as per JKNS, LG Sinha said that everyone prayed for lasting peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir and sought the blessings of Mata Kheer Bhawani for the welfare of all.

“We all prayed that peace and harmony continue to prevail in Jammu and Kashmir and that the blessings of Mata Kheer Bhawani remain upon everyone,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also appreciated the arrangements made for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage and mela.

“I would like to compliment all those involved for the excellent arrangements made for the devotees,” he said.

LG Sinha said devotees have been visiting the sacred shrine for decades to seek the blessings of the Goddess and participate in the annual mela, which holds immense religious and cultural significance.

Thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and various parts of the country participated in the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani at Tulmulla, with authorities making elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims. (JKNS)
