Beerwah, Jun 22 (JKNS): In a major step towards curbing drug abuse and preventing the illegal cultivation of narcotic substances, Police Station Beerwah conducted a special anti-drug drive in the Arwah area on Sunday under the supervision of the Probationary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP). Beerwah

During the drive, police personnel identified and destroyed wild cannabis plants growing in the area. The operation was aimed at eliminating potential sources of narcotic substances and strengthening efforts to combat the menace of drug abuse in the region.

The anti-drug campaign was led by SI Bashir Ahmad Police sation Beerwah along with police personnel from Police Station Beerwah. The operation was carried out as part of the police department’s ongoing commitment to creating a drug-free society and preventing the spread of narcotics among the youth.

Local residents of Arwah and adjoining areas appreciated the proactive initiative undertaken by the police and lauded the efforts of SI Bashir Ahmad and his team in safeguarding society from the harmful effects of drugs. Residents expressed hope that such drives would continue in the future to discourage illegal cultivation and raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.

Police further warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals found responsible for cultivating cannabis or knowingly allowing such plants to grow on their properties. Officials emphasized that any involvement in the cultivation, promotion, or distribution of narcotic substances will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.

Beerwah Police appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against drug abuse and to immediately report any instances of illegal cultivation, trafficking, or other drug-related activities. Police officials reiterated their commitment to continuing anti-drug operations across the subdivision and working closely with local communities to eradicate the drug menace.

The drive forms part of the broader efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police to eliminate drug abuse, promote public awareness, and create a safe, healthy, and drug-free environment for all, particularly the younger generation. (JKNS)
