World Environment Day Observed in Karnah; Awareness Programme and Plantation Drive Held

Karnah, Jun 5 (JKNS) : The Sub-Divisional Administration Karnah today observed World Environment Day with fervour and active public participation, reaffirming its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.

An awareness programme was organised to sensitise the public, particularly the youth, about the importance of environmental protection, sustainable practices, and responsible stewardship of natural resources.

Students from various educational institutions, members of civil society, and local residents participated enthusiastically in the event.

As part of the observance, a plantation drive was conducted at the Forest Department enclosure at Tar Behak, where saplings were planted by the participants as a symbolic gesture towards promoting a greener and healthier environment.

Speaking on the occasion, SDM Karnah, underscored the need for preserving ecological balance and urged citizens to actively contribute towards environmental sustainability.

Officers of the Forest Department also highlighted the significance of afforestation and biodiversity conservation.

A pledge was administered to all participants, reaffirming their commitment to environmental protection, pollution reduction, conservation of natural resources, and promotion of eco-friendly practices.

Among others, the Deputy Commander, 104 Infantry Brigade, Tehsildar Karnah, SHO Karnah, ZEO Karnah, Range officers of the Forest Department, officials of various line departments, students, and members of the public attended the programme.

The event concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen environmental awareness and work towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Karnah. (JKNS)
