Srinagar, May 22 (JKNS): National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Friday dismissed political criticism from the BJP and opposition parties, saying the saffron party “has nothing better to do” and was busy with its own campaigns.

Speaking to reporters, Abdullah, according to news agency JKNS, said the NC-Congress alliance remains intact and allegations regarding cracks in the partnership were being spread by “enemies.”

“BJP has nothing better to do. They have got their own campaigns. We don’t have to answer for them,” Abdullah said.

Reacting to speculation over the NC-Congress alliance, he said, “I think it is our enemies who are saying all this. The alliance is already there.”

On Congress leader Rahul Gandhi questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi over foreign tours, Abdullah said it was for Rahul Gandhi and the Prime Minister to respond to each other’s remarks.

Commenting on rising tensions between Iran and America, the NC president expressed hope for peace and said, “I hope that Iran and America will stop fighting and, God willing, we will get out of this trouble.”

Responding to a query regarding the recent militant killing in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Abdullah did not elaborate on the issue.

On the demolition drive in Jammu’s Sidra area, Abdullah said the National Conference had no role in it and that the matter was under investigation.

“We don’t have a hand in this. The people who did it are being investigated,” he said.

Hitting out at PDP over its criticism of the present administration, Abdullah accused the party of being responsible for the destruction of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

“They are responsible for the destruction of our state. Now he is making noise. I feel sorry for him. They have no shame,” Abdullah said in an apparent reference to PDP leadership. (JKNS)
