Govt Names Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani as New CDS

New Delhi, May 9 (JKNS): The Government of India has appointed Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani (Retd.) as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), who will also serve as Secretary, Department of Military Affairs.

As per news agency JKNS, the Ministry of Defence, in a post on X, said that Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani will assume office after General Anil Chauhan completes his tenure on May 30, 2026.

The Ministry said Lt Gen Raja Subramani is a highly decorated officer with over four decades of distinguished service in the Indian Army.

He is currently serving as Military Adviser at the National Security Council Secretariat since September 2025. Earlier, he served as Vice Chief of the Army Staff and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command.

The officer has also commanded several key operational formations along the Western and Northern fronts during his military career. (JKNS)
