Portal to Go Live at jkadmissions.in; Over 60 majors across 142 colleges on offer; first merit list on May 30, classes to commence from June/July

Srinagar, May 3 (JKNS): The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued an admission notification for Four-Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUGP) and Integrated Postgraduate (PG) programs with multiple exit options for the academic session 2026–27 across all degree colleges in the Union Territory.

As per the notification issued by the Directorate of Colleges a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that the Higher Education Department, admissions will be conducted through a centralized online portal, which will go live from May 9, 2026. Aspirants can register and fill their preferences on the official website https://jkadmissions.in, with the registration window remaining open till May 27, 2026 (7:00 PM).

The notification states that admissions will be offered in more than 60 major subjects across diverse streams in 142 degree colleges of J&K. The allocation of colleges and courses will be based on the candidates’ 10+2 merit and preferences filled during the registration process.

According to the detailed schedule, the first merit list will be published on May 30, 2026, followed by completion of admission formalities and fee payment from June 1 to June 6. The second merit list will be released on June 9, with admissions to be completed between June 10 and June 15. A spot round for leftover seats is scheduled from June 18 to June 25, 2026.

The classwork for admitted students will commence from June 15, 2026, for winter zone colleges, while for summer zone colleges, classes will begin from July 15, 2026. Applicants are advised to carefully go through the detailed admission notification and registration manual available on the official portal before applying.

Meanwhile, the department has also specified the documents required for registration, including Class 10th and 12th marks cards, recent passport-size photographs, domicile certificate (if available), Aadhaar number, and category certificate (if applicable). It has clarified that incomplete or pending certificates will not be accepted.

A non-refundable registration fee of Rs 200 will be charged from each applicant. Students have also been advised to utilize counselling and facilitation centers established at all degree colleges for assistance in form submission and preference filling to avoid errors. (JKNS)
