He said the teachings of Lord Buddha on non-violence, compassion, and inner awakening hold deep relevance in today’s world marked by uncertainty and conflict, adding that the exposition will serve as a powerful medium to spread the message of peace.

Highlighting Ladakh’s importance as a centre of Buddhist heritage, the Minister said the event will not only offer spiritual engagement but also boost cultural tourism in the region. He added that similar international expositions have attracted large global participation, strengthening India’s cultural and civilizational outreach.

The 15-day exposition, being organised by the Ministry of Culture India in collaboration with the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh and the International Buddhist Confederation, will be held from May 1 to May 15, 2026, with participation expected from international delegates, ambassadors, Rinpoches, Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers.

The programme will include public veneration of relics, grand processions, traditional ceremonies, meditation sessions, yoga camps, cultural performances, exhibitions, and international conferences on Himalayan Buddhism.

Key venues include the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Dharma Centre, Leh Palace, and CIBS, while the exposition will also extend to Zanskar on May 11 and 12. The closing ceremony will be held in Leh on May 14, followed by the departure of the relics on May 15.

Among others present at the event were Vinai Kumar Saxena and senior officials from the Ministry. (JKNS)
