World Veterinary Day Marked at SKUAST-K; Students Oriented on RVC Careers and Service Opportunities

Srinagar, Apr 26 (JKNS): Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) organised a guest lecture at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (FVSc & AH), Shuhama, as part of the celebrations marking World Veterinary Day.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of 3rd to 5th professional years. The event was aimed at creating awareness about career opportunities in the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC). The session focused on guiding aspiring veterinary graduates on various carrier opportunities.

Colonel Y S Sengar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, congratulated the students on World Veterinary Day and encouraged them to explore diverse career opportunities to serve the nation with dedication and professionalism.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Captain Mansi, an alumnus of the same institution, shared her journey from the classrooms of FVSc & AH to donning the uniform, providing practical insights into exam preparation, relevant study resources and outlining preparation strategies for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, highlighting the importance of discipline, clarity of thought and consistent effort.

The lecture was followed by an interactive Q&A session which proved to be highly enriching, with students expressing immense satisfaction and gratitude for the insights. Their keen interest was evident through thoughtful queries and an eagerness to explore career opportunities in the Remount Veterinary Corps.
Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof Riaz Ahmad Shah, underscored the wide spectrum of career opportunities available to veterinary graduates, ranging from clinical animal healthcare and research to areas such as conservation of animal genetic resources, industrial biotechnology, and opportunities within the global livestock sector.

The event was moderated by Dr Shahid Dar, Assistant Professor, Division of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology. (JKNS)
