The administration said the exercise aims to enhance public awareness, strengthen response coordination, and improve safety measures during emergency situations.

The public has been advised not to panic during sirens or announcements and to strictly follow instructions issued by Civil Defence personnel, police, and volunteers. Citizens have also been urged not to spread rumours or misinformation and to avoid obstructing movement of emergency response teams.

During the blackout exercise, residents have been directed to switch off all lights, including inverters and generators, draw curtains to prevent light leakage, and avoid use of mobile flashlights or vehicle headlights unless necessary.

Authorities emphasized that the drill is only a preparedness exercise and not an actual emergency, urging full cooperation from citizens, shopkeepers, and institutions for its successful conduct. (JKNS)
