Locals said that attendants of patients are often forced to travel to distant locations to withdraw cash, adding to their distress in emergency situations.

A local resident, Shabir Ahmad, said the lack of an ATM facility at the hospital has become a major issue, particularly for those accompanying patients who require immediate cash for medicines and other essential needs. “People have to move out of the area to withdraw money, which becomes very difficult during emergencies,” he said.

Another resident, Firdouse Ahmad Dar, echoed similar concerns, stating that the absence of basic banking infrastructure is causing daily inconvenience to the public. He added that the situation reflects a lack of essential facilities at a key healthcare institution catering to a large population.

Residents have urged the district administration Budgam and concerned banking authorities to take immediate steps to address the issue and ensure that ATM services are made functional at the hospital.

They further stated that in emergency situations, the lack of immediate access to cash can lead to delays and complications in treatment, which is a matter of serious concern in a healthcare setting.

The public has collectively appealed for urgent intervention to restore and operationalize ATM services at SDH Beerwah without further delay. (JKNS)
