Two Teenagers Found Dead in Tawi River; Search Continues for Missing Boy

Jammu, Mar 31 (JKNS): Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of two teenage boys who drowned in the Tawi River in Jammu, while efforts are ongoing to trace a third boy still missing, officials said on Tuesday.

According to officials, as per news agency JKNS, the three boys were swept away by strong currents near Sainik School Nagrota on Sunday evening. The deceased have been identified as two of the three teenagers, while search operations are continuing to locate the third.

Teams from police, NDRF, SDRF and local volunteers carried out extensive rescue operations, with assistance from Army divers, leading to the recovery of the bodies. The retrieved bodies have been shifted to Government Medical College Jammu for post-mortem examination.
Officials said the boys had gone to the riverbank and reportedly entered the water before being caught in the current, officials said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed sorrow over the incident.

In a post on X, office of J&K CM wrote, “Chief Minister expressed profound sorrow over the tragic drowning of three young boys at Jagti, Nagrota. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for strength and solace for them in this hour of grief.” (JKNS)
