Srinagar, Mar 16 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday formally opened Asia’s largest tulip garden the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden for visitors in Srinagar, marking the arrival of spring and the beginning of the much-anticipated tourism season in Kashmir Valley.

Situated at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range and overlooking the picturesque Dal Lake, the sprawling garden is set to welcome thousands of tourists and locals who flock every year to witness the breathtaking bloom of colourful tulips.

As per news agency JKNS, officials said that more than 70 varieties of tulips have been planted this year, creating a vibrant and expansive floral display across the terraced landscape of the garden.

 

Besides tulips, several other spring blossoms including hyacinths, daffodils, muscari and ranunculus have also been planted, enhancing the beauty and diversity of the floral showcase.

 

The Tulip Garden remains one of the most iconic spring attractions in Kashmir, drawing thousands of visitors, nature lovers and photographers from across the country and abroad during the blooming season.

 

Meanwhile, authorities have made elaborate arrangements including transport facilities, parking spaces, security deployment and other essential amenities to ensure smooth management of the expected surge in visitors. (JKNS)
