Srinagar Man Duped of Rs 41,000 in NOC Scam; Cyber Crime Wing Files Chargesheet

Srinagar, Feb 28 (JKNS): Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against a cyber fraudster accused of cheating a Srinagar resident of Rs 41,000 on the pretext of arranging a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Haryana for re-registration of a private vehicle.

The case was investigated by the Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE), and the accused has been produced before the competent court for judicial determination.

Spokesperson in a statement as per news agency JKNS said, a probe conducted by Crime Branch Kashmir into the allegations of duping a Srinagar based person of amount of Rs. 41000/_ on the pretext of arranging NOC from Haryana for re-registration of private car at Srinagar led to registration of case FIR No. 01/2023 at Police Station, Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE), Crime Branch Kashmir.

Investigation conducted into the matter revealed that one Anil Kumar S/o Indal Singh R/o village Patanwan Samardihan Sasaram, Bihar 821113 has committed cheating by impersonation by making the complainant to believe that he can arrange to provide the required NOC and had demanded an amount of Rs. 41000/- which the complainant transferred to his account, it reads.

The KYC documents provided by the cyber fraudster to open bank account in Delhi / fetch a SIM were fabricated in such a way so as to show his residence in Delhi. Depite hactic efforts, he could not be traced out on the address reflected in the KYC documents, it reads.

Subsequently, by using technology, it was established that the said fraudster actually resides in Bihar and had intentionally fabricated his KYC documents so as to escape the clutches of law, it reads.

Pertainently, the defrauded amount of Rs. 41000/- was got refunded to the victim, it reads.

Today on 28.02.2026, chargesheet of the case was presented before the hon’ble court of 2nd Additional Munsif, Srinagar against the fraudster by Cyber Crime Investigation Centre of Excellence, Kashmir for his judicial determination, it reads.

CICE reiterates its resolve to act tough on the cyber fraudsters and is committed to expose the fraudsters even if they try their level best to hide their identity, statement reads. (JKNS)
