India’s Stand Against Terrorism Unwavering, No Room for Double Standards: PM Modi in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 8 (JKNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reaffirmed India’s firm and uncompromising position on terrorism, asserting that there would be “no double standards and no compromise,” while addressing a joint interaction with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur.

As per news agency JKNS, Following wide-ranging bilateral talks, the two leaders announced fresh initiatives to strengthen cooperation in key areas including defence and security, counter-terrorism, semiconductor development, trade, and maritime collaboration.

PM Modi described India-Malaysia ties as a “special relationship,” rooted in historical connections, shared cultural heritage, and democratic values.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the partnership, Modi said both nations, as maritime neighbours, would deepen cooperation in intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism efforts, and maritime security, while also making defence collaboration more comprehensive. He added that partnerships would be expanded in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital technologies, health, food security, and semiconductors.

 

Touching upon regional issues, the Prime Minister said the Indo-Pacific has emerged as a global growth engine and reiterated India’s commitment to peace, stability, and development in the region in partnership with ASEAN countries. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his remarks, noted the steady expansion of bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, and defence, while acknowledging India’s remarkable progress on the global economic and trade front.
