Rajouri, Jan 14 (JKNS): On the occasion of the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and their families at ALG Rajouri, lauding their courage, selfless service, and enduring contribution to the nation.

Saluting the dedication of soldiers, he noted, “The sacrifices of our soldiers remain invisible. While the nation sleeps in peace, they stand alert. While nation celebrates festivals together, our soldiers safeguard the border far away from home. They do not speak about sacrifice. They live it every moment.”

During the event, the LG inaugurated the “Wall of Fame” and launched a dedicated police helpline service for veterans, reiterating the government’s commitment, under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to the welfare of veterans and their families.

He further observed, “Veterans are living role models for youth and guiding the nation with character, timeless values and selfless service. From safeguarding the nation to serving society, our armed forces veterans continue to shape India’s future. It is my commitment to honor their service through care. We are dedicated to the well-being of Veterans’ families and building a life of dignity for those brave soldiers who served and sacrificed.”

The LG also paid homage to Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, along with Second Lieutenant Ram Raghoba Rane, Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Naik Jadunath Singh, and other bravehearts of Rajouri.

A mega Ex-Servicemen Rally was organised as part of the celebrations, with distribution of motorised wheelchairs, retrofitted scooties, and other mobility aids to veterans and Veer Naris.

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Lt Gen P.K. Mishra, Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherjee, Brig. Pankaj Chib (Retd.), along with MLAs Iftkhar Ahmed, Thakur Randhir Singh, Devyani Rana, senior security officials, civil administration representatives, and citizens from all walks of life. (JKNS)
