Karnah Kupwara:In the aftermath of a massive fire incident at Karnah that resulted in damage to three residential houses and cattle sheds, the Indian Army promptly extended humanitarian assistance to the affected families under Project Sadbhavana.

Following a swift and coordinated response by the Indian Army in close collaboration with the Fire & Emergency Services, the blaze was successfully brought under control, preventing further spread and averting a major tragedy. Army personnel continued their support well beyond firefighting efforts by distributing essential ration and relief materials to the affected families.

The relief included food items such as atta, rice, sugar, edible oil, milk, and other daily essentials, aimed at providing immediate support during the critical initial phase of recovery.

While interacting with media, fire-affected families expressed deep gratitude to the Indian Army. They stated that the fire struck suddenly during the night, completely damaging their houses, cattle sheds, and even resulting in the loss of livestock, leaving nothing behind. The victims said that without the timely intervention of the Indian Army, the fire could have engulfed the entire village and endangered many lives. They recalled how Army personnel worked tirelessly throughout the night to control the fire and assist the villagers.

The families further said that the support received from the Indian Army today in the form of food and essential supplies has brought them much relief and hope. They thanked the Indian Army, especially Shakti Vijay Brigade, for standing by them in their hour of need, adding that such support makes them feel proud and reassured of the Army’s commitment to the people.

The Indian Army’s prompt response once again reflects its enduring commitment to the welfare of the local population and its role as a trusted partner during times of adversity. Project Sadbhavana continues to remain a cornerstone of the Army’s humanitarian outreach, fostering goodwill, trust, and cooperation in remote and sensitive areas.
