A senior official of the Education Department told news agency JKNS that all government and recognised private schools in the summer zones of Jammu division will reopen on Monday, January 12, 2026, strictly in line with the existing order.

“There is no proposal or decision to extend the winter vacations. Schools will function normally from Monday,” the official said.

He further clarified that teaching staff are required to report to their respective schools on Saturday, January 10, 2026, as already directed in the vacation order.

The clarification has been issued as the winter vacation order, which was issued on December 13, 2025, is set to expire tomorrow.

Winter vacations in the Jammu summer zone were announced on December 13, 2025, in a phased manner for different classes, with vacations scheduled to end on January 10, 2026, for all categories.

As per the order, students from pre-primary to Class 5 observed vacations from December 22, Classes 6 to 8 from December 26, and Classes 9 to 12 from December 29, with vacations for all classes concluding on January 10. (JKNS)
