Srinagar, Dec 9 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association on Tuesday declared a one-day shutdown on December 15, accusing the government of “repeatedly ignoring” their long-pending demands.

At a press briefing in Srinagar, the Association’s General Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Yousuf as per news agency JKNS said transporters from both Jammu and Kashmir regions have jointly decided to halt services as a symbolic protest.

He said the transport sector is “crumbling under official apathy,” citing issues such as the unchecked operation of e-buses, sharp increases in fitness and green taxes, and what he termed as arbitrary e-challans.

Yousuf added that after the Dec 15 strike, the Association will issue a seven-day ultimatum to the government, cautioning that they may be forced to take a “bigger, decisive step” if their grievances remain unaddressed. (JKNS)
