Indian Army Celebrates Diwali with Locals in Tangdhar, Spreading Message of Peace Along LoC

Kupwara, Oct 21 (JKNS): In a heartwarming gesture of unity and brotherhood, the Indian Army’s celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm in the border area of Tangdhar, Karnah, marking the first Diwali celebration along the Line of Control (LoC) after Operation Sindoor.

The event brought together local children, madrasa students, media fraternity, and civil society members, symbolizing peace, togetherness, and harmony in this remote border region of north Kashmir.

As part of the celebrations, sweets were distributed among local children and students, spreading smiles and festive joy across the valley. The Army officials interacted warmly with the locals, sharing greetings and festive wishes, reaffirming the bond between the forces and the people of Karnah.

Dr. Ashfaq Lone, Executive Director of Roshan Kal Welfare Foundation NGO, expressed gratitude and said, “It was a touching moment to see our soldiers celebrating Diwali with us in our homes. The Army’s gesture truly reflects their love for the people of this region.”

Senior journalist Peerzada Sayeed was also present on the occasion and appreciated the Army’s efforts to strengthen the bond between the forces and the local community through such meaningful initiatives.

Locals from Tangdhar and adjoining villages joined hands to thank the Army officials for sharing the joy of the festival with them. Many described the event as a sign of growing peace and mutual understanding in the border belt after years of tension.

The celebrations concluded with lighting of diyas, distribution of sweets, and collective prayers for peace and prosperity in the border area of Karnah, Kupwara.
