“AI will transform economies, change work habits, create new health solutions, [and] enhance educational access, in the coming years,” Dr. Jaishankar stated. He underscored that the integration of AI into daily life will profoundly affect every citizen in every corner of the world.

While acknowledging AI’s immense potential, the Minister stressed the imperative to manage its development responsibly. He specifically called for a governance strategy that is not only robust but also balanced.

“Dr. Jaishankar also stressed the need to adopt a balanced approach to the governance of AI and to ensure that there are effective safeguards in place to protect digital citizens,” the Ministry noted in a summary of his address. This focus on protection reflects growing international concern over issues such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the potential misuse of AI. The EAM’s comments position India as a proponent of responsible AI development that prioritizes the security and welfare of individuals in the digital sphere.
